Emily is an Articling Student-at-Law with an expected Call to the Bar of June 2026.
Emily obtained her Juris Doctor from the University of Manitoba in 2025. Prior to her time at the University of Manitoba Faculty of Law, she completed her first year of law school at the University of North Dakota School of Law, gaining exposure and education with the laws of the United States of America. In 2023, she transferred to the University of Manitoba to complete her Juris Doctor degree. Prior to law school, Emily received an Advanced Bachelor of Arts in Psychology with a minor in Business Management.
During her time at the University of North Dakota School of Law, Emily was in the top 10% of her class, and due to her academic excellence, she was honoured with serving as a Commencement Marshall for the UND School of Law, Class of 2022, graduation ceremony. In addition to her studies at the University of North Dakota School of Law, Emily served as the 1L Representative and Deputy Prime Minister of the Canadian Law Students Society.
Thereafter, while attending the University of Manitoba Faculty of Law, Emily received the Leon Mitchell, Q.C. Prize in Labour Relations for achieving the highest grade in Labour Management and Relations for the 2024-2025 school year.

The founding partners of DFS created the firm in 1979, known for dedicated and flexible client service, legal excellence and effectiveness, and commitment to giving back to the community. BD Oakes traces its history to 1974, becoming Booth Dennehy Ernst & Kelsch, acquiring Tupper & Adams (Manitoba’s oldest firm), and evolving into BD Oakes in 2019, carrying on a history of providing a wide range of legal services in Manitoba and Northwest Ontario.
